Assessor and Verifier Awards

The Assessor & Verifier Awards are designed for people with specialist skills who want to assess and verify the competence of individuals working towards S/NVQs in their particular specialism. The awards are recognised throughout the UK and form part of the S/NVQ's in Learning & Development.

Mode of Delivery for both awards:

One day off-the-job training and then tailored to individual training and development needs.

A1 Assess Candidates Using a Range of Methods

The A1 award consists of the following four elements:

• Develop plans for assessing competence with candidates
• Judge evidence against criteria to make assessment decisions
• Provide feedback and support to candidates on assessment decisions
• Contribute to the internal quality assurance process

Entry requirements for A1:

There are no formal entry requirements but candidates wishing to obtain the above assessor unit A1 must have access to at least two candidates who are working towards a relevant SVQ.

V1 Conduct Internal Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process

The V1 award consists of the following four elements:

• Carry out and evaluate internal assessment and quality assurance systems
• Support Assessors
• Monitor the quality of assessor's performance
• Meet external quality assurance requirements

Entry requirements for V1:

If you wish to achieve the V1 qualification you must already have obtained the A1 assessor unit (previously D32/D33). You will also need to have the opportunity to verify and sample the assessment decisions of at least two assessors who have active candidates.

Course Objectives V1:

To demonstrate competence in carrying out and evaluating the effectiveness of the internal quality assurance system for assessment decisions. To demonstrate competence in supporting and developing assessors in line with Awarding Bodies' requirements.
