Modern Apprenticeships Administration

We are approved by Skills Development Scotland to deliver and manage Business Administration Modern Apprenticeship (BAMA) on behalf of the employer.

Eligibility
The skillseeker Modern Apprenticeship initiative offers support to train 16 – 19 year olds in employment.

Objective
More people work in Business Administration than any other occupational area in the UK. Every business needs effective administration, and that need remains whatever else changes. Over recent years the whole concept of administration has become more fluid. All organisations have some staff who are dedicated administrators. Most will also have staff at all levels who are increasingly expected to carry out some of the administrative aspects of their jobs, particularly through making use of information technology – for example to word process their own letters, use mail merge, send their own Emails and monthly reports….

The BAMA Framework will continue to provide a broad, high-level programme of training and education for anyone who wishes to build a career on sound skills in administration. Upon successful completion of the programme Apprentices will receive two certificates. One from the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) in recognition of achievement of SVQ Administration Level 3, core skills and optional units and a certificate from the Council for Administration (CfA) in recognition of achievement of the Modern Apprenticeship.

Recruitment
We can assist the employer with the recruitment of 16-19 year olds (thereby keeping the cost of recruitment down as there are no finder’s fees for candidates entering the training programme).

Allowances
The employer may choose to take advantage of the government’s support of the programme by paying a development rate to a new recruit at the commencement of the programme leading to a rate for the job after an initial 6 months in employment.

Initial Assessment
Persons recruited to the Business and Administration Modern Apprenticeship (BAMA) must have the potential to achieve the level 3 SVQ in Business and Administration along with extra units from a range of options. Initial assessment plays an important part in this judgement. It is equally important that the job has or will have the potential to support all aspects of the programme and that the Employer has made a clear commitment to providing any development (with our assistance) as the job role requires.

Customised Training Plan
An appointed Training Manager will draw up, in consultation with the Employer and Apprentice, an individual Training Plan. The plan will be formally reviewed at 13 week intervals by the Employer, Apprentice and the Training Manager. The review will provide an opportunity to evaluate the Apprentices learning experience and link identified training and development to the job.
